From my Art Journal.............. The dark side of Love!!

Image
Hi there, today I'm bringing you another mixed media piece that was inspired by one of my journal pages. I belong to a Facebook group called "The Craft Hole", we sometimes have challenges, I was intrigued about the "Gothic" challenge for April.  I looked at my art journal, and why would the word LOVE and hearts and birds make me think of Gothic, I will never know.  Here is what I did, I hope you like it, when I showed the final piece to my son and began to tell him the story behind it he said....."stop, I'm sad already" his words exactly. So here is my story, very short to the point. Love, we all hope is something that once we find IT, will last for ever, and yes sometimes it does, along the way, you find the way to overcome anything and everything and keep your love going strong.  Sometimes, love ends, hearts get broken and people walk away from each other, this is my story, short but to the point. You can see the love birds, no longer toget...

From my Art Journal

Image
Hi there, this is a little painting that I made, see I started keeping an art journal, I have many pocket size sketch books I filled out over time, now I decided to keep a journal no bigger than 6X8 so it fits in my purse, along with some pens for coloring in.  At home I use distress minis from Tim Holtz to do a back ground on several pages at once, this way I can just sketch/draw onto the pages whenever I feel inspired.  I have posted several photos of finished pages on my facebook page, and a couple of friends ask if they could buy some, now I never thought about selling these, so I said I would make them a bit bigger for them to buy.   Here are some photos from some of the pages from my art journal.   I chose these two pages to make them bigger, now I did not keep track of what and how these were done, again, it was not my intention to sell - I just wanted to draw/paint as inspiration kicked in.  I'm keeping my journal as is, for these pag...

Midnight Masquerade Dance!

Image
Midnight Masquerade Dance! Now this is what I like to do, help out by doing something creative.  I like helping out but my full time job is  out of state so my commuting hours are crazy.  So anyhow, I made 18 masks in three evenings, (1) I first painted all the masks (2) I mod podge all the sequins to all masks (day 3) I added all the gems, and feathers  it was a combined total of 11 hours.   Each is unique, no two are exactly alike.  I hope the school gets to sell them all, and the kids enjoy wearing them at the dance. Here are some of the materials used - missing is the hot glue sticks /gun used to glue the feathers and gems here are a few of the masks - after paint was applied, I used  plaids  products, apple barrel, extreme glitter, and the Martha's new  paints On this photo you can see I started to add the sequins by using mod podge (gloss), once the sequins were secured I sealed each with mod podge, either gloss or...

Creating on Wood!

Image
I do love making jewelry, along with paper crafting, and sewing, and lots of other stuff, but I started by drawing - as  a kid and in HS, I loved to draw and paint. I love the fact that I can still do this but in different ways.  I don't do oil, water or chalk paintings any more - not because I don't like them but because I did these back when I was in HS a lot, and now I like to paint in different ways.  I love painting on everything I can paint on, including my sweat pants! LOL my daughter hates it when I wear these out on public. This is one of my most recent works - here is a wood frame that I colored using Tim Holt's alcohol Inks and perfect pearls - then I used paper products, and butterflies to finish it  This wood frame was painted using Plaids and Tim Holts products and paper products from DCWV.  I made this last year and sold at an art fair. Now lets go back a few years back and take a look at what I've done before. These photos are from som...

Blue Denim Patch Headband

Image
So last night after making the white and light blue denim headband, I took the one I had done days before - for this one I took pieces of dark blue denim from some pants I cut into shorts - not for me but for my daughter. I fringed all the sides of each piece of denim- did I mentioned I love fringed denim? well I do! I had bought some pretty fabrics from Joann's last weekend and one was a sheer fabric with white little tiny glass beads - the color is somewhat like a coral - cantaloupe color- I just loved the fabric so I bought it - anyhow I had cut up a lot of this fabric to make petals - so I cut up some strips and burnt the edges to prevent fringe- not sure what I would use these strips for later, but I figure I would find a good use for them. So any how I took the denim covered headband and looked at the sheer strips of fabric - started making a flower out the fabric using the hi temp hot glue - placed it on the headband - liked the color combination so I decided to glue ...
