Crocheting around, my way!

Image
I just wanted to go back a little and show some of the works I have done in the past and where I'm at today.  Now I love working with different mediums.  I've seen some amazing works on blogs, on-line and even on FB that inspire me to go in a totally new direction to what I'm used to making, this is going to take some time, because it is not easy for me step outside the line and say it's ok, there are no lines, no rules, just let it all be what it wants to be. I do some crocheting, I have in the past made the scarfs, hats, even sweaters, but I'm not there anymore, don't get me wrong, I love these- I've seen some amazingly creative crocheting on-line, but I just want to make jewelry with it - so here are a few items I've done using a crochet hook and yarn. If you start from the top left - I used two types of yarn, yet you only see the green -  this is a really pretty bracelet and  the best part is that the beads are small and light so when you wear...

Soda Flower's - good for Earth

Image
I've been wanting to make some flowers our of soda cans - but had been putting it off, over and over again.  Well I finally decided to make some- We don't drink a lot of pop at home - I never do- and I limit what the kids drink at home and when we all go out to eat.  We had some take out and the dinners came with a drink - usually I get all water bottles, this time I got 3 cans and one bottle of water so I washed and dried the cans and then decided to cut out flowers free hand.  I used my favorite scissors - Westcott's titanium non-stick scissors (used the little ones) also used their cutting knife - used some pliers and wire - I didn't want to use any type of glue . This first picture shows all the flowers I was able to cut out of three soda cans. After cutting the flowers out in one piece - I noticed there were a lot of big pieces of the can still left so I cut out small oval like shapes to see what I would do with them. Here you see the wire and pliers I used. ...

ALL DENIM HEADBAND

Image
So last night I went up to my craft room and was not sure what to work on - I had been working with polymer clay for last couple of days and had all my materials on the table - decided to play with some alcohol inks on a luthrador sheet - finish coloring and well was not sure what to do with it, so I looked and looked around trying to see what I would really love to make. I noticed the blank white plastic headbands I got from Michaels - saw all the pieces of denim from the pants I cut into shorts for my daughter - so I decided to make some headbands - days earlier I had covered one this headbands with dark blue denim in a patch form and left it alone not sure what to do with it next - well I decided to take the white denim and used some therm o web glue dots cut it up and added to the headband underneath - them used the hi temp glue gun and glue and started gluing the white denim as a wrapped it around the plastic headband Well I decided once I was done wrapping to make a flower o...

May Arts - Back to The Beach! Jewelry

Image
I wanted to make some jewelry using some of the ribbons from May Arts . Here are two bracelets I came up with today. Hope you like them.    here I used some of beadalon memory wire and some german wire - 1. strung the ribbon on the memory wire along with some pearls until all the wire was covered with ribbon and pearls. 2. used two open end crimps at the ends of the wire and ribbon using my pliers I closed the crimps. 3. took some of the german wire 20 g. and strung some pearls at the end a shell and turned them into dangles added to the crimps - one on each end of the wire, bracelet done and ready to wear. Here is the finished bracelet all ready to wear - it is really light and you hardly feel it when it's on. I gathered all these items to see what I would come up with; recycled jeans, piece of a white blouse, May Arts ribbon, fabric tac, white velcro, some assorted pearls and shells and my favorite scissors - well  I did not use the white fabric after ...

T-shirt bracelets

These bracelets were made out of recycled t-shirts. I did macrame & crochet, to some I added beads, I call it bib bracelet for it reminds me of a baby's bib used some tulip fabric paint in yellow, the other yellow I strung wood disks and also used fabric tulip paint.  these are just a few of the t-shirt bracelets I started making.  Somehow, I have been bitten by the recycle bug, and well I'm having fun with it.
